Places where people in a community meet to develop friendships, discuss issues and interact with others have historically been an important way that community is developed, retained and grown. Lakeview Church asked TLG to design a 98,000 SF addition to their facilities to provide for a place where people can gather informally, feel comfortably at home and nourish relationships, in current vernacular called “The Third Place” (the first being the home, the second being work). Phase 1 of the project involves 60,000 SF which expands the church's existing lobby into a “Third Place” area, creating a 15,000 SF central “Main Street” from which all of the various church ministry facilities can be accessed. This phase also includes a dynamic 18,000 SF addition to the youth ministries space, a specially themed 18,000 SF space dedicated to infants and young children, and 21,500 SF of multi-purpose ministry space for sport, fitness, theatrical and other uses.
